Viv's 4 Month Stats

Vivian had her 4 month checkup today, just in time for her to be right in the middle of her first real cold.  Audrey came down with something new AGAIN starting Friday night.  She developed a really rattly cough and fever.  Vivian, unfortunately, came down with it too.  There are few things worse than hearing a little baby with a deep cough that makes her sound much older.  There's not much we can really do for her either but keep her comfortable.  Luckily, aside from sleeping a bit more than usual, she's been acting fine.  Fast forward to today.  Daycare was closed for the holiday so Audrey tagged along to Viv's appointment.  Due to the cold and fever she had yesterday, Vivian did not get her vaccinations.  We did learn that she's 12.5 lbs (10th percentile) and 24.5" tall (25-50th percentile).  She has half a pound on the 4th month old Audrey but is measuring the same height.  I'm not sure if Vivian is slowing down or Audrey had a growth spurt!  We also learned that she has an ear infection!!!  :(  Audrey didn't get her first ear infection until she was 15 months old!  I was really hoping Vivian would go down that same path because I'm not a fan of having her on antibiotics at this young age.  The doctor said, "Welcome to child #2."  She also said that Vivian won't catch illnesses from the infant room, rather her big sister.  Lucky her.  To be safe, the doctor rechecked Audrey's ears - they were clear - but could still hear wheezing and told us to bring back the Albuterol for morning and night treatments until the cough goes away.  Audrey isn't thrilled.  I think the novelty of the nebulizer has worn off.  Hopefully this isn't how the rest of our fall and winter are going to go because we aren't (usually) a sickly family.  We apparently have some bug in this house that we just can't kick.  Anyway, we'll go back to the doctor in 2 weeks for a recheck of Vivian's ears and to get her vaccinations.  Please wish us good health!!  :)

About This Blog

Laura began this blog with the intention of someday chronicling our children's lives since our family is spread out from east coast to west. We wanted a way for family to get up-to-date news. Since we had no children at the time, it became a blog that followed our (her) foodie thoughts. Cooking, eating out and drinking wine are huge hobbies of ours so it only seemed fitting. Now that children are here we're going to attempt to meld the two together. You will notice "Foodies" and "Family" links at the top left of the page underneath the header photos. Use these links to focus in on the entries you want to read and bypass the others. We hope you enjoy.
