Pearly Whites

Audrey had her first dentist appointment EVER today!  She was such a rock star and acted as though she'd been seeing the dentist for years.  I can't believe how lucky we are that we have such a sweet little girl.  She picked out the chocolate toothpaste (I was gagging) and sat patiently while they cleaned her teeth, only flinching a little whenever they'd put a new instrument into her mouth.  She even handled the flossing like a pro.  After a clean report - no cavities! - she went home with 3 princess stickers and a new (black!?) toothbrush!  I am so, so proud of my little baby girl.

Our Little Ballerina

I am just giddy over this - Audrey took her first ballet class!  It's just a 6 week intro class which will be perfect to gauge her interest.  Judging on her twirls and dance moves while exclaiming "I'm a ballerina!" I think she'll love it.  I'm hoping to enroll her in an actual dance class starting in the fall and bridge the gap with short little classes like this one.  It's legit though, she's required to have the full getup of a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.  We took her shopping this weekend and she's so excited!  I even bought a sock bun maker for her hair (and mine too!) so she fully looks the part.  She danced around for a good half hour while I took some pics.
Here she is in action!  It's not the best picture - she's right in the middle, I hope to take better ones over the next few weeks.  I did take lots of videos.  :)

Hockey Fun

A few weekends ago, Bill's cousin Cy and his son Noah from California were in Detroit because Noah's hockey team was playing in a national tournament.  We loaded up the car and headed over to see him play.  Sadly, they didn't win but we had such a fun trip.  We stayed at my dad's each night in Toledo so we got to visit with him a bit.  We forgot to bring the "bumpers" for Audrey's bed so she fell out of bed for the first time.  :(  We thought we had her secured with rolled up blankets but she managed to roll over them.  She was okay though and didn't even remember falling out come morning.

We spent Saturday in Detroit hanging out with Cy and Noah.  Their team got to watch the Red Wings practice so while they were there, Bill and I got to hang with his old roommate from Chicago.  It was a very full weekend.  Audrey loves Noah so she had so much fun prentending to play hockey and run around with him.  We're looking forward to see them in just a few more months when we're out in California again.

Viv was so bundled up!

I had to post both versions of this pic just for Audrey's two poses alone.  When Bill saw Vivian in this shirt he said she was "Bad to the bow."  :)

Vivian is 8 Months Old!

Our little baby isn't so little anymore.  She's already 8 months old!!  She's such a sweatheart - always smiling, always calm, always happy.  She's such a snuggler too - so content to just cuddle up with you and hang out.  We just love her!
She loves the bath!  Always splashing!

Little Entreprenuer

Last Friday Audrey was home sick from school.  That morning over a pancake breakfast she looked at the Mrs. Butterworth syrup container and said, "If she had legs, she could walk around and sell her syrup."  I couldn't believe how insightful that was for a 3 year old.  I'm also hoping this is a glimpse into her future where she's a super successful entreprenuer who invents and sells something fantastic!

Jumpy Jumpy

Two brothers who live on our street had a joint birthday party at a place called the Jump Yard.  It's a place full of bounce houses, bounce slides, bounce mazes, a toddler/infant area and arcade games.  It's very cool.  Even adults are allowed to jump!  We've been there a few times before and Audrey has always been very reserved and hesitant to go on anything.  Not this time.  She ran around like a fool and was suddenly very brave.  All of us, including Vivian, had a very good time.  Audrey even cried when it was time to go!

Disney On Ice

A few weeks back, I took Audrey to see Disney on Ice after winning tickets through her soccer coach at school.  I had the day off for Martin Luther King Day so we made a date of it.  After dropping Vivian off at school, Audrey and I headed to one of our favorite breakfast spots - Original Pancake House.  :)

After that, we headed to the show.  Audrey dressed up as Belle from Beauty and the Beast!  Here she is doing a little dance.
We had so much fun watching the ice skaters and seeing all of the Disney characters.  I actually choked up a little when the show first started because I remember going to see Disney on Ice with my mom.  Audrey watched with rapt attention the whole time and would yell out "Hi Mickey!!" and wave whenever he skated by.  I loved seeing her excitement.
We had great seats.
Check out this horse from the movie Tangled.  There were two people inside.
The lighting of the laterns, also from Tangled.  Cute movie if you haven't seen it, by the way.
Beauty and the Beast characters:
Overall, the show starred The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled and Brave characters, along with a handful of others like Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Cinderella's stepsisters and Pinocchio.

After the show, the rest of the day was spent talking about, dancing like and pretending to be a princess.  At dinner, Audrey was calling me and Vivian princesses so Bill asked, "Am I a princess?"  Audrey replied, "No, you're the queen."   She cracks us up!

About This Blog

Laura began this blog with the intention of someday chronicling our children's lives since our family is spread out from east coast to west. We wanted a way for family to get up-to-date news. Since we had no children at the time, it became a blog that followed our (her) foodie thoughts. Cooking, eating out and drinking wine are huge hobbies of ours so it only seemed fitting. Now that children are here we're going to attempt to meld the two together. You will notice "Foodies" and "Family" links at the top left of the page underneath the header photos. Use these links to focus in on the entries you want to read and bypass the others. We hope you enjoy.
