Easter

Our street had it's annual Easter Egg hunt for the kiddies the Saturday before Easter and as expected, Audrey had fun.  Came home with a lot of candy too.
Always the spectator (but not for long!).
The younger age group from our street - look how many there are!

The Easter Bunny visited our house the next day and brought lots of goodies!

That afternoon, we went to one of Bill's co-worker's house where they served up quite a feast.

Family Swim

A nice thing about where Audrey is taking her swimming lessons is that they have open family swim times.  We took advantage of it the Friday before Easter and we all went swimming.  It was Vivian's first time in the water!
They have all sorts of fun water toys.

Swimming, Swimming in a Swimming Pool

About a month and a half ago, Audrey started taking her first non-"mommy and me" swim lessons.  She LOVES it.  I mean LOOOOOOVES it.  She always has the biggest smile on her face and her mouth seems to never stop moving.  I'd love to know what she's talking about.  We had her in two mommy and me classes when we lived in Iowa.  First when she was only 11 months old and again around 15 months.  We don't have any pictures from her first classes, but here are some from her second.

She was so little then!  I no longer have to get in the water with her and it's actual survival skills, not just splashing around and singing.  This is her objectives list, it's no joke.
This is from her very first class and she's hard to see:
Watching her big sis:
Bill's parents were able to join us at a class:
By about her fourth class, Audrey was able to climb out all by herself! "Elbow, elbow, tummy, knee!"
We'll likely continue these classes until Summer when we'll pause for a few months and start using the outdoor pool.  We just bought our family pass!

Our Little Helmet Head

Viv has her helmet!  I thought I had it all under control but a few tears may have sneaked out during the appointment.  She, on the other hand, was fine - a bit annoyed during some parts but otherwise bored.  She'll wear the helmet (which I believe we need to name) for a few hours a day over the next few days to get used to wearing it and so that we can monitor any problems such as too much pressure or rubbing in any given area.  So far, we haven't seen any issues.  By day 5 of monitoring, she'll be wearing it 23 hours a day and overnight.  We go back for a check up in a week and then every other week thereafter.  I didn't take too many pictures but here it is.  It isn't SO bad.....by the end of the first hour of wearing it, she was banging on it as if to say, "Take this thing off!"  So we did.  :)

10 Months Old!

Viv is 10 months old and look how happy she is!  She can play peek a boo now (thanks to Bill's parents for teaching her!) and it is so cute to watch.  While she knows she's supposed to cover and uncover her eyes, her favorite way to play is to put her hands on either side of her eyes (as if holding imaginary binoculars) and just keep saying "boo!"  So stinkin' cute!  She's also a pro at playing "How big is Vivian?  SOOOO big!"  Audrey also likes playing it so I've been having to tell Audrey to stop saying it constantly.  There's nothing like trying to feed a 10 month old while her sister keeps saying "SO big" - poor Viv just keeps throwing her arms up!  While not talking yet, she's definitely on her way.  Mimicking "uh oh" seems to be her favorite but "da da" has come out a few times as has "eee oooh" for a monkey sound.  I just love this girl!  Wednesday is D-day for the helmet.  :(  Should be interesting!

About This Blog

Laura began this blog with the intention of someday chronicling our children's lives since our family is spread out from east coast to west. We wanted a way for family to get up-to-date news. Since we had no children at the time, it became a blog that followed our (her) foodie thoughts. Cooking, eating out and drinking wine are huge hobbies of ours so it only seemed fitting. Now that children are here we're going to attempt to meld the two together. You will notice "Foodies" and "Family" links at the top left of the page underneath the header photos. Use these links to focus in on the entries you want to read and bypass the others. We hope you enjoy.
