Cinco de MAYo

Can you even believe it's May already??  Audrey is 5 months old!  Crazy.  More importantly, today is Bill's birthday!!!  Happy Birthday babe!  And a very Happy Birthday to another little one in our family, Meryl, who is my cousin Elaine's daughter.  Cheers all around!

Things have been getting a little noisier at our house lately.  It seems that Audrey is finding her voice....I think this comes from the Tabayoyong side or mine when politics come up.  She's always been a "talker" - babbling away and cooing - but she's now taking it to a whole new level of LOUD.  Nothing like getting woken up at 6:15am to a little girl yelling nonsense.  It's getting earlier and earlier too because I think the sun wakes her up.  We have wooden blinds on her window but I'm thinking of putting a curtain up just to get a few more minutes of shut eye.  Here are some recent pics.  Gammy and Grandpa visited the other weekend and couldn't believe how much she'd changed!

Looking like I caught her doing something she shouldn't!

And finally, one of my favorites....

Mmmmm....Tasty!

Another milestone was reached in Audrey's little world today - she ate rice cereal for the first time.  Yum!  I have to admit, I was expecting it to be quite the show - a face of disgust, food flying, a mouth clenched shut - but it was anything but.  She actually seemed to enjoy it and was eating like a pro by the end.  I'm thinking this is good news for us.  Hopefully it will continue and she'll be like us and will eat anything.  That said, I'm also hoping that the funny faces come when we start introducing vegetables.  It can't all be this easy, right?  I just want the experience of watching her face scrunch up all cute as she spits out her peas.  And by the way, for someone who is new at this whole "feeding a baby pseudo real food" thing, rice cereal kind of freaks me out.  It's not really rice, not whole grains at least, and I wouldn't call it cereal.  It kind of looks like shredded coconut which is not at all what I was expecting.  I really don't know what my expectations were.  My mom asked if I tasted it and I'll admit, the thought NEVER crossed my mind.  I'm slightly intrigued now though so we'll see.  As long as my next entry isn't titled "101 Rice Cereal Recipes", I think it should be okay.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone!  Audrey and I are celebrating alone today because Bill is on his first 24-hour trauma call.  He goes 6am-6am and after that he has to round on his surgical patients so it's really like 36-hour call.  Let's hope that he has a very slow day and that those he does have to treat heal very quickly.  Luckily, we were able to celebrate together yesterday over an Easter brunch with our good friends.  It gave Miss Audrey a chance to change out of her usual garb of a onesie and dress up and wear a festive bib (thanks to her Aunt Dawn!).

We hope the Easter bunny was good to you this year and brought you your favorite chocolate candy!

Roll Tape!

If you can believe it, Audrey was 4 months old on 3/24.  Crazy.  She laughed out loud for the first time on St. Patrick's Day but I have yet to get that on video because she's not consistent, or Bill and I are just not that funny.  I did catch her rolling over for the first time today!  Yay!  This is actually her second attempt as I hit "record" on her first attempt as she was rolling.  It didn't start taping until she was already on her back so it didn't make for an exciting video but the audio of me going nuts is kind of funny.  Anyway, here's Miss Audrey rolling over for the SECOND first time.  ;-)

About This Blog

Laura began this blog with the intention of someday chronicling our children's lives since our family is spread out from east coast to west. We wanted a way for family to get up-to-date news. Since we had no children at the time, it became a blog that followed our (her) foodie thoughts. Cooking, eating out and drinking wine are huge hobbies of ours so it only seemed fitting. Now that children are here we're going to attempt to meld the two together. You will notice "Foodies" and "Family" links at the top left of the page underneath the header photos. Use these links to focus in on the entries you want to read and bypass the others. We hope you enjoy.
